Milestones of History: Trodat's journey began in 1912 when Franz Just and his wife started making stamping inks in their kitchen in Vienna. They carefully filled the inks into glass bottles, and with their savings, they established a small stamp manufacturing business. In 1960, their son Walter Just officially registered the Trodat brand, a name derived from "Tro," referring to trolitul, a plastic used in stamp production, and "Dat," short for date stamp. This marked the beginning of Trodat's global presence, as the brand became known for producing high-quality stamps.
